Executive Officer/Youth Director Forest Honeywell indicated that there will be kids casting events at the Garden State Outdoor Show and the Borger Middle School in January. Those interested in helping out should contact him directly as soon as possible.
The Tournament Report was given by Tournament Director Al Purdy. Al indicated that the final Team Tournament rosters will be due at the April 2010 meeting. He asked that the three boaters be listed on the roster first, followed by the rest of the potential team members. He also reminded the membership that he needed boaters to provide copies of boat insurance with their final rosters. Al also indicated that there will be no off limits prior to the Team Tournament.
Tony indicated that the entry fee for point tournaments in 2010 will be raised to $100 per event. This increase was necessary to help fund the State Team. He also indicated that the Federation would continue to add $3,000 ($600 per event) to the tournament payouts in 2010, but the four $500 raffles at the last event of the season would be discontinued based on insufficient funds.
Environmental Director P.J. Bartolotto introduced the President of the Ramapo College Bass Fishing Team and indicated the club has officially been established. There are currently 14 members.
Tony stated that the money/paperwork being collected from the clubs includes the yearly FLW dues. Tony explained that this was implemented by the TBF. He also explained that the minimum remittance required for the Team Tournament even if a club is not participating in the Team Tournament is $100. This would entitle that club to send one member to the Team Tournament. Tony noted that it was a difficult time of year to come up with extra funds, and he thanked all those in attendance for continuing their support of the Federation. Tony stated that next year, he hoped to find ways to trim the costs to the clubs.
Member Doug Peabody gave a recap of the recent Bass University. He and many other Federation members accompanied his youth club, the Rigging and Jigging Bassmasters, to the event. All of the youth had a great time and all were treated to lunch by the pros presenting at the event. Doug indicated that the event was well worth the cost.
Vice President Mike Hart indicated that the Federation received oil and life vests from Evinrude. All of the oil has been sold and he is currently selling the vests for approximately half price, $40 per vest. He also stated he will be receiving Ranger life vests and Yamaha oil for sale in the New Year. All of this money will be put towards the tournament payouts.
Mike updated the membership on the Genmar Boats bankruptcy. He indicated that bidders to purchase Genmar (which includes Ranger Boats) have emerged and a new owner should be in place in 2010.
Secretary Bruce Stovall and Treasurer Jim Bartolotto collected the TBF rosters, the preliminary Team Tournament rosters and fees and Federation dues from the clubs in attendance.
Tony collected applications for Club of the Year. The only application presented was from the Bergen Bassmasters. He also solicited nominations for Person of the Year. Vice President Hart nominated Elliot Liardo and that motion was seconded. Doug Peabody was nominated by President Going and that motion was also seconded. Tony indicated that further nominations would be accepted at the January meeting.
