                                          Minutes of April 10, 2009 Federation meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 8:06 p.m. by President Tony Going.  All Board members were in attendance. 

The following chapters were not in attendance: Bass Kickers; Bergen; Blazin Bass; Bucketmouth Brigade; Clearwater; Essex County; Jackson; Lake Hopatcong; Northern NJ; United.
            
The Minutes from the March 13, 2009 Federation meeting were read by Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo.  The minutes were accepted via motion/second with an amendment to indicate that Sunrise did previously submit a final Team Tournament roster. 

The Treasury Report was read by Treasurer Jim Bartolotto.  The Treasury Report was accepted via motion/second. 

The Tournament Report was given by Tournament Director Al Purdy.  Al stated that the Team Tournament is set.  Official practice is from sunrise of May 3 to 3:00 p.m. on May 6.  You may fish prior to May 3, but the official tournament rules are in effect as of May 3.  He encouraged everyone to review the official rules which are available of the website.  He reminded all boaters that they must have an accessible throwable safety device and all anglers must have either a Virginia or North Carolina license.  The event will be launched out of North Bend Marina.  Al indicated that all boaters should take extreme caution on the mornings of the event and exercise safe boating when traveling from the ramp to the launch staging area. 

Al stated that the first point event is ready for the Susquehanna Flats on April 26.  Al indicated that there should be many new members and rookies fishing the event.  He stated that the Delaware Federation Nation will also be launching from Anchor Marine that day but arrangements will be made to ensure everything runs smoothly and he anticipated no problems.

Tony indicated that the raffle for the three free rooms at the Team event was drawn and the winning club was the Jackson Bass Anglers.  He also stated that for the $10 per member that was assessed to subsidize the room raffle, there will be numerous free raffles with numerous prizes held at the Team Tournament.

Tony also stated that there will be free raffles at the conclusion of each regular event for individuals who do not get a check at the event and are present.  Merchandise, including fishing rods, will be given away.

Tony stated that MegaStrike (Bobby Uhrig) and Keitech (Mike Czaplinski) will be sponsoring the Federation by providing merchandise that will be given out/raffled at the 2009 tournaments.

Tony showed the members in attendance the new sublimated State Team shirts for the 2009 State Team.

Tony indicated that there will be no May meeting since it coincides with the Team Tournament.

Vice President Mike Hart indicated that based on the difficult economy and other factors, the Federation is only getting $950 in Ranger Cup money in 2009 (compared to $4500 in 2008).  Accordingly, for this season, Ranger Cup money will be awarded as follows: $100 for the highest Ranger Cup finisher per event; and $90 for the second highest Ranger Cup finisher per event.

Executive Officer/Youth Director Forest Honeywell indicated that kids casting events were held at the Somerset Saltwater show and approximately 250 kids participated.  Also, two additional events were held at the Pequest Hatchery show and over 265 kids participated. He indicated these events were a tremendous success.  Forest stated that he has met many kids that are interested in being in junior clubs.  He needs more clubs interested in sponsoring a junior club.  Any clubs that are interested should contact him immediately.

Environmental Director P.J. Bartolotto indicated that there is an ordinance that provides for a use fee to use the Trenton ramp on the Delaware River.  To obtain a permit you need to contact the City of Trenton.  He also indicated that Lake Hopatcong will be refilled by reducing outflow from the lake.

Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo gave a brief recap of his experience at the TBF Nationals.

Member Bill Smith indicated that the Raritan Valley Bassmasters, in conjunction with the Greenbrook Police, will be holding the Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby on April 25.

Member Bob Kowitski requested that a new member, Jason Pike, be allowed to fish with Sunrise at the upcoming Team Tournament.  President Going indicated that if the membership agrees, it is only for the current event.  A roll call vote was taken and the vote was 18 votes to allow, 0 votes to not allow.

Webmaster Elliot Liardo indicated that anyone looking to sell boats, etc., to contact him to allow it to be put on the website.

The Federation collected $132 in raffle proceeds.  The prize was a pair of Solar Bat sunglasses.   The winner was Bruce Eikner.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 p.m.
