Minutes of August 13, 2010 Federation meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 8:03 p.m. by President Tony Going. All current Board members were in attendance.
The following chapters were not in attendance: Bass Assassin 6 (excused); Back To Back; Bass Kickers; Bass Busters; Bergen; Bucketmouth Brigade; Central NJ; Cullin` Bass Six; Essex County; Hy-Way Bassmasters; New Jersey Bass Hunters; North Jersey Bass Anglers; Raritan Valley; United; and Warren County.
Since there was not a quorum of clubs in attendance, President Going deemed the meeting legal.
The Minutes from the July 9, 2010 Federation meeting were read by Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo. The minutes were accepted via motion/second.
President Going indicated that there have recently been discrepancies in the Federation accounts, but all the funds are accounted for. However, Jim Bartolotto has resigned as Treasurer. Tony indicated that the Board now needs a Treasurer. He solicited volunteers for the position. Vice President Mike Hart indicated that the members in attendance should bring this information back to their club members to see if anyone is interested in the position. Tony also opened up the floor for any questions about the matter. No questions were presented.
The Treasury Report was read by Vice President Mike Hart in lieu of a replacement Treasurer. The Treasury Report was accepted via motion/second.
Executive Officer/Youth Director Forest Honeywell indicated that the 2010 National Guard Junior World Championship was held at Lake Lanier, Georgia. New Jersey’s youth representative Nikolas Goebel (15-18 age group) took second in his Division and 17th overall out of the 41 anglers in that age group. New Jersey’s Ari Rosenzweig (11-14 age group) took first place in his Division and sixth place overall out of the 41 anglers in that age group. The members in attendance applauded their efforts. The 2011 event will be held in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He also stated that the Bob Cicchetto Memorial Junior State Championship will be held on September 11 at Lake Denmark in the Picatinny Arsenal. This date is earlier than originally proposed based on the draining of the lake. Forest stated that he received a $100 donation for the Youth Fund from the Next Generation chapter in memory of Bob Cicchetto. He also presented $25 for the Youth Fund from the sale of hot dogs and water at Lake Hopatcong. Additionally, he received a $50 donation from Harvey Knight of North Jersey Marine for the Youth Fund. He also received $60 for the Youth Fund based on the sales of oil. Finally, he presented $229 in proceeds for the General Fund based on the raffle held at the Lake Hopatcong event. Forest finally noted that a kids casting event will be held at Lake Assunpink on September 26 and 26 in conjunction with the NJ Fish and Wildlife Expo. Volunteers to help out are needed.
The Tournament Report was given by Al Purdy. Al stated that the Greenwood Lake event is set. Contrary to the information presented last month, the boat use regulation requiring a permit is not currently being enforced since there is not currently a mechanism for enforcing the new rules. Al stated that anyone ticketed for not having a boat use permit will not be disqualified. He indicated the tournament headquarters will be at Anton’s on the Lake. Boats may launch anywhere on the lake but must check in there in the morning and at the end of the event. Member Doug Peabody indicated that the New York regulations for swim beaches indicate that you must not fish within 500 feet of the beaches, so be careful since he has heard of reports of anglers being ticketed for violating this provision.
Based on the short turnaround time between the last two events of the season in October, Al emphasized that tournament entries must be in on time. For the Delaware River event, he indicated he would be looking to launch at the West Deptford ramp as the Gloucester ramp is not sufficient to hold such a large-scale event.
Secretary Bruce Stovall reminded the members about the 2010 Reel to Reel. He indicated that he would like to see some ads coming in. He wants the ads given or sent to him. He will also accept any photos or club articles for the Reel to Reel. Ads will be accepted through October.
Show Director Joe Poms presented $60 in proceeds from the sales of sun glasses at the shows.
Tony indicated that the Federation was awarded an additional $1,500 in certificates from Lowrance this year over and above what it usually receives based its filings. He also stated that he will be receiving four Lowrance HDS5 units shortly and will sell them for $525.
A drawing for a Quantum PT rod was held. The winner was Bruce Stovall. The drawing collected $135.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m.
